SPOTS

If you get a spot on anything (suit, couch, shirt...) first try to put absorbent cloth on each side.

Then water to dissolve.

Later if it is washable put liquid detergent mixed with water on the spot and wash

Never put in dryer or iron until you are sure the spot is gone , Heat sets the spot.

The same procedure is true if you have a place where a color has run from another item or even part of the same like a collar.

If article not washable use a commercial spray like K2R (see link on the side) use sparingly and brush gently when dry. Repeat as needed.

A cheap spot remover for washables is liquid detergent mixed with water, for blood a little hydrogen peroxide directly or added to the mix, for grease ammonia

The key is patience don't rush the procedure. Too much detergent or spot remover then becomes the problem to get out

Many dry clean only can be washed with care like silk scarves and suit pants.

MEANING OF TAGS

WASHER AND DRIER

Powdered detergent is best and cheapest for the washer. Cold water (washing machine usually has Cold/Warm/Hot) is easiest on clothing but once every 10 to 20 washes should be with hot water to keep the washer clean.

Definitely do not wash ties or suit jackets with linings.

The more you spin, the dryer things come out but also more wrinkled. Something like a shirt can be dried in dryer and if taken out immediately and shaken and hung, you can avoid ironing!!

Towels you can do the spin cycle twice.

Baking soda helps with odors and corn starch to absorb stains before washing.
